PhotoSpin, the royalty-free content subscription site,
now expands the benefits of the PhotoSpin Professional subscription
beyond the royalty-free content offering by launching SpinGallery.
SpinGallery is an online portfolio, free to PhotoSpin Professional
subscribers, where graphic designers, photographers, marcomm professionals,
art directors and other PhotoSpin Professional subscribers can showcase
their work on the photospin.com site -- http://www.photospin.com/gallery/.
Basically, SpinGallery allows a PhotoSpin Pro subscriber to have
an easy-to-use, easy-to-access online portfolio for showcasing their
creative work, without the necessity of a website. If a subscriber
already has a website, the SpinGallery allows for more online exposure
through PhotoSpin web traffic. Links can also be placed in the SpinGallery
pointing viewers to the subscriber’s other sites.

the PhotoSpin website not just another royalty-free company and
service. As far as I know, PhotoSpin is first in this ‘community’-type

SpinGallery includes four image uploads (four image pages/display)
– free for a year. Subscribers can upload jpegs, eps, gif,
pdf, or almost any common file to the SpinGallery. Subscribers will
be able to expand their SpinGallery to a total of 20 online images
for a $50 annual fee through Sofast, PhotoSpin’s online partner
and builder of the SpinGallery.
In addition to posting work, subscribers get a chance to view the
SpinGallery and see what type of work their peers are doing. It
can also create work opportunities for those who use the SpinGallery,
because contact information, website, and e-mail address are also
provided within the gallery. That way if a viewer likes the work
of someone else, they can contact them and negotiate the job.
“I’m using a two-fold portfolio strategy: the SpinGallery
for cold calling and telephone contact; and a traditional portfolio
for face-to-face meetings,” said Samuel Bowlby, an independent
designer. “Because much of my contact work is done over the
telephone, I direct casual or cold-call contacts towards my SpinGallery.
Once I’ve made contact over the phone, I then set up a face-to-face
meeting with the prospective client and bring along my traditional
portfolio.”
