Note: Sofast provides all email accounts hosted
on our email servers with FREE Spam and Virus filtering.
While this service does not guarantee 100% removal of
all virus and spam messages, it will assist you greatly
in doing so. By default, all accounts are set to a medium
spam filtering level and you must log on to your web-mail
account to change or disable these settings. Virus scanning
is enabled for all users and cannot be disabled. An email
which contains a known virus will be deleted and a message
will be automatically sent back to the originator of the
email notifying them that the email contained a virus
and that it was not delivered to the intended recipient.

Q. Does this mean that it is not
necessary to have Norton or Mcafee virus
scans?
A. Sofast provides
all email accounts hosted on our email
servers with FREE Spam and Virus filtering.
While this service does not guarantee
100% removal of all virus and spam messages,
it will assist you greatly in doing so.
Anti-Virus programs for your computer
are strongly recommended. Remember that
email is not the only way a virus can
enter your system. |
Q. How can I opt
out of this?
A. By default, all Sofast email
accounts include a Medium level of Spam
filtering. Virus scanning is enabled for
all users and cannot be disabled. An email
which contains a known virus will be deleted
and a message will be automatically sent
back to the originator of the email notifying
them that the email contained a virus
and that it was not delivered to the intended
recipient. To reduce Spam filtering to
None, simply follow the instructions given
here. |
Q. Does this filtering system will
work when he use e-mail programs like
Outlook, or if it's ONLY when we log in
to Webmail?
A. The filtering
works when the email enters our mail server.
Simply put, it is checked against a list
of known Spam email schemes as well as
checked for a certain criteria for viruses.
The marked email is sent to a spam folder,
which will be held for 4 days before it
is purged from your inbox. To answer the
question, the filtering works with webmail
OR your email client, such as Outlook. |
Q. What are “White
lists” and “Blacklists”?
A. A White list is a
list of email address of people you know,
but for some reason have been flagged as spam.
Adding someone to your white list will allow
them to bypass the spam filter and let emails
from the address come through.
Similarly, a Blacklist is used for an
email address, which by some method, has
bypassed the spam filter and has come
through regardless of whether or not it
is spam mail. You would add an email address
to your Blacklist is you do not wish to
receive emails from this person again.
|
Q. How do I add someone to my “Blacklist”,
or block this sender from sending me emails?
A. Login to your Webmail
inbox and click on the Options link at
the top of the window.

Scroll down until you can click on the
Sofast Spam link.

This will bring you to the spam options.
From here you can add someone to your
“Whitelist” or “Blacklist”.
From here you can also change the severity
of your Sofast Spam filtering.
